SA: Spring Festival -ByrdFest!
10am until 6pmMary Magdalene’s, 26 Moore St, Adelaide.
It’s the 400th year since William Byrd died. We can’t let that pass unnoticed!
Come and explore the life, work, stylistic breadth and legacy of England’s most prolific composer William Byrd, for his 400th Anniversary year, in an immersive day of workshops, rehearsals and presentations.
We’re planning workshops around who and what was happening at that time. For those who have never had the chance to do this type of music before – we are planning to give some musical analysis.
Schedule:- 9:30-10am Welcome & Registration
- 10-12:30 Warm-up & Morning Rehearsal (including a short tea break)
- 12:30-1:30 Lunch (catered)
- 1:30-2:30 Workshop – A Practical Guide to the Polyphonic Styles & Techniques of William Byrd
- 2:30 Afternoon Rehearsal
- Afternoon Tea (timing depends on how well rehearsal goes)
- Top-up rehearsal (if needed. If we’ve all done our homework – we might not need this)
- 5pm Evensong
Cost: Music, rehearsals, lunch and workshops all included in price. Members $20, Non-members $40
