SA: Spring Festival/Hymn Festival
3pmSt Peter's Cathedral, North Adelaide
This October, come and celebrate Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 150th anniversary and mark his contribution to the creation of The English Hymnal. But it won’t be all hymns!
This year, we will endeavour to employ the cathedral’s ringing acoustics in joining our fellow singers in singing our favourite hymns, our favourite obscure hymns, descants, arrangements by local composers, organ solo and a couple of anthems (based on – not surprisingly – hymn tunes).
Anthony Hunt (St Peter’s MD) will be Music Director for this event, welcoming all singers (not just choristers) to take part in this event. David Heah (St Peter’s organist) will be rounding out the music on the mighty William Hill & Son and Norman and Beard organ.
Invite your friends, your relatives, your neighbour across the back with the loud voice … all are welcome to come clear the pipes and have a good old sing. There will be a retiring collection for those attending.
The event is programmed to last approximately one hour. And once you’ve sung your lungs out, you can then join us in an afternoon tea (gold coin donation).

The idea is to have an “RSCM choir” for the day. Please see separate calendar event for this.
