Robin’s songs focus on the ‘low way’\, the way that invites others not to escape everyday reality\, but to get de eper into it\, He has a strong commitment to ‘plai n’ Christianity\, a faith that trusts in the my stery of the ‘God-man’ Jesus\, and doesn’t loo k for miracles — apart from the numerous everyday ones already provided. He tries to incl ude a wide variety of musical styles in his writing and collecting: ‘No music is holier than any other!’ Come and listen\, and sing!

November’s lunchtime recital will be given by Beth Cathcart at St A ndrew’s Presbyterian Church\, Forrest.

Beth Cathcart says “I’m pla nning a selection of music for Advent and Christmas and will end with the now traditional St Andrew’s finale of “Highland Cathedral” played on bagp ipes and organ”.

Admission is free\, but a collection will be take n to assist the work of the RSCM and the host church.

George Friderick H andel composed his entire epic oratorio\, Messiah\, over the course of an astounding 24 days – a feat\, as we know\, not unusual for him. He was no stranger to such lightning-speed bouts of epic composition. His Messiah ha s long been a recognised seasonal favourite\, as the Christmas season appr oaches.

On the 26th November 2017\, Hinterland re sidents and visitors will be treated to a musical degustation of excerpts from this glorious oratorio\, in half-hour\, bite-sized courses at three v enues through our Hinterland.

The Sunshine Coast Choral Society\, with guest performers\, will present these offerings under the expert and always-infectious baton of our conductor\, Adrian King\, more than ably-as sisted by our enormously-talented accompanist\, Natasha Koch\, at the pian o.

For this important fundraising co ncert for refugees and asylum seekers\, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music alumni and undergraduate students will perform an hour-and-a-half of super b live music in the beautiful and iconic confines of St Carthage’s church opposite Melbourne University. All welcome. All funds raised from this eve ning will go directly to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre Cost: $20\, $15 concession. Free for chil dren under 15.

Handel’s Messiah will be performed in a full concert at Buderim’s Sie nna College on the afternoon of the 10th December 2017. The Sunshine Coast Choral Society will be joined by soloists Kathryn O’Halloran (Soprano)\, Naomi Flatman (nee Bakker – Mezzo-Soprano)\, Phillip Costovski (Tenor) and Oliver Boyd (Bass). These soloists have sung togethe r to great acclaim in our most recent (sold out) concert of Mozart’s Requi em and Vespers\, and are building a solid reputation for excellence in per formance. Also participating in this concert are singers from other Chora l Societies\, such as Noosa Chorale\, Buderim Male Choir\, U3A Choir\, Ori ana Choir\, Sunshine Coast University Choir and others. The orchestra for this performance is the Sunshine Coast Chamber Orchestra\ , under the baton of Adrian King\, our multi-talented Musical Director.

For the third year running\, St Patrick’s Cathedral \, Parramatta will be hosting a Mother’s Day Concert. This is a lovely aft ernoon consisting of a one hour music concert\, followed by afternoon tea. The music features some of the Cathedral’s very own talented singers and musicians\, including organ scholars performing on the Cathedral’s impress ive Norman and Beard Pipe Organ. Mothers also receive a special blessing f rom one of the Cathedral’s priests and a couple of musical pieces are sung to honour the Mother of our Lord. This year\, a men’s vocal group will b e singing a few familiar songs to serenade and celebrate mothers. There wi ll also be a flute and violin duo by G.P. Telemann performed\, an excerpt from Francesco Durante’s Magnificat\, and a traditional Spanish lullaby su ng by a ladies’ vocal group. The Mother’s Day Concert is sure to be a beau tiful afternoon of music in a wonderful acoustic\, followed by culinary de lights.
