The Summer School will be run with a mixture of full group activities, streams and workshops. View Timetable
The full group activities will include a massed choir, which will aim to sing at three liturgical events during the week.
The streams offered will include
– choral
– composition
– organ

Each stream will have a goal to complete within the Summer School.

The choral stream will be made up of small choirs with a particular focus on a certain element of choral singing eg a chant choir, a men/women’s choir, special interest choirs etc. Each of the choirs formed will have an opportunity to perform at some stage within the week. The specifics of each choir will depend largely on the preferences of the participants.

The composition stream will involve small group teaching sessions with local composer Ann Carr-Boyd, and composers will work towards presenting their compositions in a concert at the end of the Summer School. A local elite chamber choir has been engaged to perform the works.

The organ stream will involve both private practice time and small group workshops with nationally recognised organ teachers. Participants in the organ stream will present a group organ recital at the end of the week.

The Summer School will also include a series of workshops, with a range and variety of topics to chose from.

Formal Dinner
The formal dinner will be held on campus at Bruce Hall. Our guest speaker for the night will be Christopher Lawrence from ABC Classic FM.

Day out
Three options are being planned for the day out:

  • “Red bus” tour of the major attractions of Canberra
  • “Rest and Relaxation” pamper pack at the Botanical Gardens which includes a massage and a gourmet lunch
  • Winery tour at a local winery

Accommodation is available for delegates at Bruce Hall on the Australian National University campus, which will also be the main location for our daily activities. (This is basic dormitory style, with single rooms and shared bathrooms.)

  • A double room, to accommodate a spouse or travelling companion not attending the summer school, will cost an additional $675 for the 6 nights (meals for the second person included).
  • Ensuite rooms (single or double) will cost an additional $120 for the 6 nights.
  • The cost for an additional night at the start or end of the school would be :
